Q:What size of heater do I need?
A:This is a multi part question: First you will need to determine the nominal voltage of your vehicle, the capacity of your alternator, and you will need to estimate how much you are trying to change the ambient air temperature in your vehicle. The second part will determine the size of the heater, the first part will determine the voltage needed and maximum amperage. All of these factors combined will help in determining the proper size of heater for your particular application.
Q:How do I know the voltage of my vehicle?
A:Your vehicle will have a nominal voltage or the voltage given by the manufacturer as their recommended operating voltage. A 12 volt vehicle will often have a charging system in excess of 15 volts. If the nominal voltage of your vehicle is 12 volts, you need a 12 volt heater. You will also need to determine the amperage or load on the charging system with all of the lights etc are on and then determine what amperage heater your vehicle will accommodate. NOTE-All of our heaters use a negative ground.
Q:Can my heater run continuously?
A:DC Thermal heaters are made to run for hours or days without any issues. The only limitations would be the power capability of the vehicle in which your heater is installed. A vehicle such as a golf cart that uses only batteries with no charge source, should not be ran continuously because of the drain on the battery. A vehicle with an alternator should be left running while the heater is on to maintain the battery’s charge. The size and amperage of the heater should also be taken into consideration. A 12 volt-3000 heater for example, will pull 30 amps on high and 18 amps on low.
Q:What is my warranty and where do I get parts and service?
A:All DC Thermal heaters carry a one year parts and labor warranty which is unmatched in the industry. We have repair parts on hand for every model of heater we sell and we have a very short turn around on warranty work. Should you need service and your heater is out of warranty, we charge a minimal fee for repair plus parts. We have heaters in the field that have been running for over 20 years trouble free.
Q:What makes DC Thermals heaters different?
A:DC Thermals heaters are different in many ways. About the only thing that our heaters have in common with all others is the fact that they put out heat, the similarities end there though. DC Thermal is the only heater manufacturer in the world that uses our exclusive RuCar elements. In addition to the element we also use our proprietary Ruby quartz tube and vibration dampening high heat RuCar silicon ends which virtually eliminates vibration. We also incorporate our own vibration resistant motor mount system on our Stealth line of heaters. This process makes our heaters very efficient, but also very rugged and reliable. These heaters are designed for intense every day use and years of trouble free performance.
Q:What is the cost to repair a heater?
A:Most heaters can be repaired to virtually new state for between $60-$65. Turn around is usually 2-3 days.
Q:How does your heater compare to other heaters?
A:DC Thermals heaters are different from all others in just about every way. Our Rural Polymer Composite elements are vacuum sealed in our own proprietary Ruby quarts tubes and caped off with our RuCar high heat silicone vibration dampener. This process does two things…keeps the element from being exposed to the moisture and condensation which prolongs the life dramatically, and virtually eliminates damage to the element from excessive vibration. Our Stealth line feature our heater motors which are also mounted on our own shock absorbent motor mount material. We also utilize 4 reflector plates per heater to direct the heat out making such a small heater very efficient while using very little energy.
Q:What makes your line of heaters different from all other heaters?
A:The Alloy elements in a competitors heater are usually the first thing to go out. This is the primary reason for our development of the RuCar elements. RuCar elements have a life expectancy of 10,000 hours.
Q:What is the life expectancy of my heater?
A:The Alloy elements in a heater are usually the first to go out, this is the primary reason for our development of our synthetic element RuCar. Our Axial, and Ducted series elements are rated at 10,000 hours which is unmatched in the industry.
